Vivian's Visit to Atlanta

Thursday, February 28, Sidney got a smiley face from Ms. Hughes, one of his teachers. He was so proud of himself. He got it for laying down on his nap mat without having to be told more than once. His classmates were not behaving well and Sidney was one of the good kids that day.  He taped it to the front of his bed when we got home.

Vivian arrived in Atlanta on February 28. She stayed with us March 1-7.  Saturday, Vivian went with us to Cleo's acting class. Her class performed a demonstration of what they learned this session. Cleo was a member of the horde of rhinoceroses. They are acting out parts from a children's book titled, "Giraffe's Can't Dance."

While Sidney napped, Cleo, Vivian and I spent some time in Target. We had a nice girls afternoon.  After Sidney's nap, we went to Cafe Sunflower.  Sidney had his own slice of their awesome, vegan Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake, why the capital letters? It's because it's the best chocolate cake ever. Vivian agrees.  She and I had our own slices too. Cleo declined dessert. Roger had slice of the peanut butter cake. It's really good too.

Every time we went anywhere Sidney wanted to sit next to Auntie Vivian.

A tired Cleo with her Mommy and Daddy.

On Sunday we had breakfast at the Original Pancake House. The food is just as awesome as it used to be. They make the best whipped cream to go with the strawberry waffles I had. They also make their own strawberry syrup that they bring warmed to the table.  I also love their home fries.  I get hungry just thinking about it.

After breakfast, we went to Toys R Us and Party City to buy Cleo's party supplies. We got Hello Kitty party favors, favor bags, napkins, plates, a table cloth, and a centerpiece. She selected lavender forks for the cake. We are not getting cups because the Brunswick Zone supplies them.  They also supply plates but she wants a Hello Kitty themed party and the plates are a major party themed item.

Below are Sidney and Roger checking out the fancy Spider-Man balloon at Party City.  It was extremely blustery and freezing that day, thus the hat and gloves on Sidney inside the store. It even snow flurried while we were driving around.

Sidney checking out the car as well.

I went to Dublin, GA March 4-6 for an employee training. I learned about details regarding some of one of my company's products.  I helped install the products too. There were 16 of us in the class and we were divided into 4 teams to install the products.  I installed a window wall - it's like a non-movable window installed in a skyscraper building.  I also installed a door, like you see at Barnes & Noble.  It was very worthwhile and extremely interesting.  I stayed in a La Quinta Hotel. It was fine but it was more like a nice motel.

Vivian left Thursday, March 7 and stayed in the W Hotel on 14th Street and Peachtree Street.  I stayed with her Friday night.  For dinner last night, we went back to Cafe Sunflower.  They make the best fried Brussels sprouts.  They're reminiscent of the General Tso's chicken dish found on NYC Chinese restaurant menus.  Cleo likes them too. We are going again for Ahnya's birthday this coming weekend and Cleo is already looking forward to the Brussels sprouts and spring rolls. Roger always orders the spring rolls and Cleo and Sidney eat most of them.

After Cafe Sunflower, Vivian and I drove to Atlantic Station. It's an outdoor walking mall. We checked out Old Navy, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor Loft, and some other stores. I got some cute jeans for $15.99, yay sale.  We headed back to the W Hotel and relaxed and ate the rest of our chocolate cake.  The cake is always too rich and big a slice to eat immediately after dinner.

I left the hotel around 7:30 am this morning and returned home. Sidney has a cold and low grade fever. Roger did work and Cleo, Sidney and I chilled out. Cleo and I also did homework due this coming week. Sidney rested a bit on the couch.  He also danced a bit, the liquid ibuprofen we give him helps a lot with the fever and any aches he may feel.  Last week, we stopped giving him albuterol through a nebulizer.  We now have an asthma pump and give him medicine two times a day.  Last week, Roger took him to the doctor for pink eye (he missed 2 days of school) and got the asthma pump prescription then.  It's cut down on morning preparation time significantly.

Cleo selected her Hello Kitty dvd tonight for movie night. Roger slept through most of it. Afterward, Sidney laid his blanket on Roger and Cleo and Sidney decided to sit on him.

Linda, Robin, Kaelin, and Ahnya are coming to Atlanta for Cleo's 6th birthday party on March 16. Her real birthday is March 17.  Ahnya's birthday is March 16.  Cleo is looking forward to her party very much. She's invited 3 boys and 5 girls.  Only the boys and one girl have RSVP'd.  I hope the girls can come, especially her best school friend, Luna.  Her best friend Alexandria is coming and so is her brother, Quintin.

Have a great week!
