We had a really nice Mother's Day last weekend. We went to church. Then, we came home and changed into comfortable clothes. The kids and Roger gave me wonderful cards. Roger and the kids gave me these cute summaries of why they're happy I am their mom/wife. Very sweet.
After gift and card opening, we went to the zoo to visit my pandas. First up were the gorillas.
Razorback gorilla dad.
Sidney imitating the razorback gorilla.
Cleo and Sidney learning about why our purchasing petroleum based products hurts orangutans' environments. The plants used to make petroleum result in deforestation of the forests where orangutans live.
Cleo comparing her height to a panda's.
Panda!
Me + my panda. The thing about the location of the panda exhibit is that we go through most of the other animals' exhibits before we get to the pandas. The kids are always so tired but the time we get to the pandas. Next time, we visit the pandas first, then stroll to the other exhibits. The Atlanta Zoo is not as big as the Bronx Zoo so my plan for next time will work.
Us in front of the elephant exhibit.
We watched the elephants for a while. No visit is complete without a few elephants. I remember the elephant exhibit at the L.A. zoo being super smelly. The side we were on at the zoo last weekend did not smell too bad. Sidney's new favorite animal is the elephant.
These are radishes from our garden! They're very bitter. Next year we need to only plant things we like to eat. Sidney selected the radish seeds.
Look at how big our zucchini plants are!
Next to the zucchini in their own blue pot are the marigolds. They're thriving too.
