Last weekend, Roger taught Cleo how to play chess. She took to it like a champ. She is able to set up the entire board on her own. Gorgeous and smart!
Sidney with his new Prison Break hair cut. Prison Break was a show on in the 2000s that featured two characters, one played by Wentworth Miller, who both had hair cut just like Sidney's. Wentworth Miller is Gabriel's age and actually went to Midwood High School.
Sidney taking a bite of a frozen pancake. On the weekend, he wakes up ravenous and wants to "help" make his breakfast so that he can sneak bites of everything I am making for him, e.g., the eggs in his Dinosaur egg oatmeal, bacon.
Sidney enjoying the broccoli and chicken kabob we made him for dinner last weekend.
Cleo biting into her steak and broccoli kabob. Roger came up with the idea of putting their meat on a stick to make it more fun. I added the broccoli.
Yesterday, Cleo and I played Scrabble while Sidney looked on. He likes to play too but he puts letters on random areas of the board and only wants letters in his tile holder that stand for subway trains, e.g., G, F, C, A. Handsome and creative.
During Sidney's nap yesterday, Cleo and I went to Target and Publix. Cleo bought Monopoly with her own money. When Sidney got up from his nap we played it. The new piece added to the game is a little cat. Cleo selected the cat, I was the dog and Sidney was the ship. We didn't finish the game. The box says 8+ and there is clearly a reason for that age minimum. We had fun playing.
Thursday, June 27, Sidney developed a stomach virus. He stayed home from school on Friday and progressively got better. Cleo and I got sick on Monday, July 1. Roger had to pick me up from work in the afternoon because I felt so awful and was unable to drive myself home. I was hit much harder by it than Cleo and Sidney. Thankfully, they only had diarrhea and a low grade fever. In addition to those symptoms, I threw up a few times. It was terrible. We are all on the mend but not feeling 100%. Sidney went to daycare last week. Cleo stayed home the rest of the week with us. She and I stayed up in the master bedroom in order to try to prevent Roger from getting it. For now, Roger has been spared.
We did not go out for the Fourth of July. We watched fireworks on TV and watched a few random ones from our windows.
We are taking it easy this weekend. Thank goodness for boardgames. And Easy Bake Ovens. We made pink whoopie pies with chocolate and lemon frosting today. We may make chocolate whoopie pies later. The kids really enjoyed making them.
Have a great week!
