Linda making her grand entrance escorted by Rodney and Roger.
A beautiful Linda and distracted Sidney playing Angry Birds on Rashand's Samsung Galaxy phone. Rashand is Linda's good friend's daughter, the good friend's name is also Linda. Cleo is super attached to Linda's grand-daughter Makayla. We spent the day with Makayla on Saturday. I will post pictures later from that day.
Rodney chatting with Kaelin.
Me and my girl. She's wearing my black wrap because it was probably 60 degrees in the hall. She's holding a kaleidoscope she got from the photographer earlier that evening.
Me sipping a cosmopolitan and Cleo trying a Shirley Temple for the first time. She said she did not care for it and that it hurt her stomach. I sipped it and it was awesome, just like I remember it. To the uninitiated, I suppose the taste does kind of resemble cherry, liquid Tylenol. It's taste instantly took me back to the many times I had one and felt so grown up because I had a drink just like the adults.
You can see Cleo's dangling earrings well in this picture. She's really into them now. She probably has 20 pairs and she likes to wear ones that don't match her school uniform. It's hard to match everything to beige, hunter green and navy.
Sidney and Cleo insisting on standing with Linda while she cut her cake. Linda's friend Henrietta and cousin Carol are standing to the left of the cake. Carol emceed mine and Roger's wedding.
Here's a better shot of Carol. Sidney is about to hug her. He loves hugging Linda's friends and family.
Sidney getting a good look at the cake. It was unnecessary because we got there early to help with last minute things and after spending a good amount of time inspecting the cake, he informed me that it smelled like it tasted really good.
Linda cutting her cake.
Sidney the dancing king dancing with Connye, one of Linda's best friends. She is coming with us to Hilton Head.
And dancing withAlma, also one of Linda's best friends.
Roger hosting the Who Wants to Be A Millionaire segment of the party. Linda loves game shows. They asked her questions from every decade of her life. She got them all right and they weren't easy. She had a little help from the audience who was Googling some of the answers.
Robin, Cleo, Kaelin and Sidney carrying a bouquet of flowers to Linda. Cleo changed out of her black maryjanes and lacy socks into her silver gladiator sandals. She's so funny. She said her shoes hurt her. She likes to be comfortable like her mommy.
Linda handing out special appreciation certificates to Roger, Rodney and Robin.
More dancing.
When the party was winding down, Sidney went over to the dj and asked him play the Cha Cha Slide. What he meant was the Wobble song - it's a popular song played at parties. I helped clarify the song. Then, Sidney announced that he wanted the "girls to come back and dance with him." He meant Connye and Alma so they went out on the dance floor and danced with him. I tried to get a shot of Sidney conferring with the dj but the lighting in that direction was not compatible with my camera.
We had a great weekend. I will post some pictures later this week from our outing to the park in Robin and Linda's building complex. Linda's party was fabulous. There were around 100 people who attended. I joked with her family and friends that it was like a wedding but she didn't have to worry about the groom's input on what he wanted at the event. The cake and food were really good too. She had an open bar with top shelf alcohol. The chef prepared a special dish for me: rotini pasta with heaps of red sauce and broccoli. Perfect.
We returned today, Monday, Sept. 2. We left Jacksonville around 8am and arrived around 2:30pm. We stopped 3 times for various reasons. After relaxing for around an hour, I helped Cleo with some homework while Roger napped on the couch; he drove us back and it wore him out.
This afternoon, Sidney entertained himself and practiced writing Z, B and b. His handwriting is getting better and better. He got 100% on his spelling test that he took on Thursday - he spelled see, you, and for. Now, he spots his school sight words in the books we read him.
Sidney is so smart and sentimental. When we pulled into the garage he said he didn't want to go inside and that he wanted to go back to Jacksonville, FL. Roger told him he would drive him back after unloading the car. Sidney was truly upset when he realized that Roger was not going to drive him back to FL. Roger told me that Sidney started to cry in the car when he saw the Target near our house and realized we were actually in Atlanta. I was napping when we got off of the highway before we pulled into our driveway. Sidney loves Robin, Kaelin and Linda so much. It's sweet.
Have a great week.
Very nice!
