Finally Sunny!

Yesterday, Roger took Cleo and Sidney to Cleo's acting class at the Southwest Arts Center.  Cleo takes the class and we usually sit in the hall and entertain Sidney.  Entertaining Sidney means allowing him to play Ninja Fruit or Angry Birds on my Kindle or one of our cell phones. Lately, his electronic item of choice to play a game on is my work-provided iPhone 4S. I am getting more accustomed to it. I only have 4 apps on it but will add more soon.  I am addicted to Word Warp, Cybele told me about it when she got her iPhone years ago.  I changed the time limit to 4 minutes (instead of 2) so that I have more time to get all of the words.

After  Cleo's class, Roger took the kids for pizza at Johnny's New York Pizza not too far from our house. I can tell you it's not New York style pizza.  Right before they left for Cleo's class, Roger let Sidney load up Cleo's Easter Basket with some of his trains and a Belle figurine.  Somehow those items made it onto the lunch table.

While they were out, I ran some errands and then headed to get my hair cut. I needed to get my layers put back in so that I have some semblance of a style.  I had it blown out and it looked really nice.  While I slept, the back got curly. Grrr. Ahnya gave me a flat iron that she won at some talk show taping she attended.  So, I am going to test the flat iron out and try to straighten some of it.  Wish me luck!  We are going to make an appointment for Cleo to get a trim and blowout from my stylist in a few weeks.  Cleo has never had a hair cut.  We will take tons of pictures.

After my hair cut, I headed home. Sidney was still asleep. Cleo and I played a princess jewelry decorating game.  It's fun but I was so tired, I fell asleep in the middle of the game. I developed a cold Friday night and it got worse yesterday.

For movie night, Cleo selected "Barbie: A Mermaid Tale."  We have seen it many times before.  After the movie, the kids went to bed. I stayed up a little and watched Prometheus on HBO. I had seen it in the theater. It was entertaining.

My cold has improved a bit this morning but I still feel sick.  I did not go to church. Roger took Cleo and Sidney. I am curious to see how he did Cleo's hair. I woke up around 7:45am and they were just leaving but I was still upstairs.

A few weeks ago Cleo asked me how long people live before they die.  I told her people can live a very long time, like 110 years.  A few days later someone on the news died. Cleo asked me if they were 110. I told her they were not. She told me she doesn't want to be 110 because she doesn't want to die. I told her that she has many, many years to live and lots of experiences to have.  I told her she would have babies, travel, go to college. She said, ugh, no, I don't want to have a baby because I don't like throwing up.  That was a reference to my telling her a few weeks ago that I threw up a lot when I was pregnant with Sidney.  The girl does not forget a thing.

Cleo is fascinated by the fact that I don't eat meat. I think it's because it's something she adores.  She was telling me that I am an herbivore and that she is a carnivore. I told her she's technically an omnivore but it's more common to call meat eaters carnivores. She said, "Yes, I am a carnivore, like bald eagles."  I thought that was funny because when I think of carnivores,  my mind immediately goes to lions and tigers not birds.  She's been learning about American symbols and one of them is the bald eagle so they're on her mind. There's also this diorama that may have stuck in her mind from when we went to see the iMax movie about Monarch butterflies at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History on our girls day on President's Day.  The eagle is eating a duck.

It's been unseasonably cold here lately.  Finally, yesterday, the sun came out and it's supposed to be sunny and in the 70s for a while. It's welcomed warmer weather.

I am heading to Chicago next week, April 10-12.  Cleo is on Spring Break April 9-12. She will be attending camp at Kids R Kids where Sidney attends daycare and where Cleo attends after school care. I am attending a continuing legal education course on insurance law. I am very interested in insurance law and my boss has tasked each of the attorneys in my department (there are 4 of us counting my boss) to select an area of the law and increase our expertise in it. I selected insurance law. I will be staying at the Swissotel, which is where the conference is being held.

This summer, I am taking an Insurance Law course at Georgia State University, it's located near where Roger and I used to live when we first moved here. It starts May 20 and ends in mid-July. It's offered every Monday and Wednesday, 5:30pm-8:15pm.  Cleo will be out of school so I won't miss out on helping her with homework. It's a huge commitment because it's 2 nights out of the week. I cannot guarantee that I will make it to every class since I don't want to miss out on the evening routine with Clee and Sidney.  I am auditing the course and won't be receiving credit for it.

We don't have specific plans today but we will be sure to get the kids outside. I need to do our yearly planting of flowers and herbs.  I got the kids new watering cans and gardening gloves so we are all set in that arena.  I am going to plant Thai basil, regular basil, mint, grape tomatoes and maybe try strawberries again. Both types of basils and the tomatoes really thrived.  We have a rectangle garden pot on the deck, it's only 3' x 2' but it's large enough to have a tiny garden.  The kids loved caring for the plants, especially watching the tomatoes grow.  Maybe today we will go to Lowe's and buy some plants and seeds.

Sidney gets his cast off on April 9. I know he's so ready.

Look at how much they have grown. Cleo's and Sidney's cheeks have lost so much of their chubbiness in just the last 1-2 years. Sidney is 2 in that photo. Cleo is 4 in the princess photo.  The photo with the two of them was taken recently.

Have a great week.
