Sidney and Cleo's daycare is gearing up for their annual Black History Month presentation later this month. Sidney is learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. This morning we took Cleo to see her pediatrician. She has a perpetually swollen lymph node behind her right ear that I want to get checked out. Last night, we were explaining to the kids that we were going to the doctor today. I told them that Cleo was going to see Dr. Wiggins. Sidney announces that, "Dr. Wiggins had a dream." It was his variation of Dr. King had a dream; he was making a joke. He's a clever little fellow.
Cleo's doctor was not concerned about Cleo's lymph node and said it was not enlarged and felt normal. The doctor had a nurse give Cleo a TB test just to be sure she was okay. Roger is taking her on Monday to have the test site checked to make sure she wasn't exposed to TB. I guess the doctor thought her lymph node was a little enlarged. Cleo freaked out about having to have the TB test. Roger had to hold her while the nurse gave her the shot/needle prick.
After the doctor visit, we got the kids doughnuts from Dunkin Donuts. I got a medium coffee with a shot of coconut flavoring and whole milk, no sugar. The coconut flavoring is not sweetened. Cleo got a heart shaped doughnut with chocolate frosting and chocolate chips. It was filled with white frosting. She really liked it. Sidney got a doughnut with chocolate frosting and rainbow sprinkles. He ate around half of it and Cleo ate the rest.
We drove to Babies R Us and got Cleo some white mary jane shoes for church. Then, we went to Walgreen's to pick up a prescription for Sidney which the doctor was late in calling in from when I took him to the urgent care center on Sidney's birthday. The drug is a wonder drug. It's Zofran and stops the taker from throwing up. I took it when I was pregnant with Sidney because for the first 4 months, I threw up almost every night. It tastes like cherry, is super small and dissolves in your mouth.
In my earlier post about Sidney's and my visit to the urgent care center on his birthday, I forgot to mention that the intake woman gave Sidney a teddy bear and little car from Cars 2. Sidney played with the car a lot while we were waiting to be seen in the examination room. It was so nice of them to give him toys. The nurses and staff felt bad that Sidney was there on his birthday.
After naps, Roger and Cleo did most of her Valentine's cards. She wrote out her classmates' names on the cards. Her penmanship is excellent. They will do the rest tomorrow. Roger and I have to do the cards for Sidney's class.
After an early dinner, there was a blackout from 5:30pm-8pm. We gave the kids a bath, then we watched a Disney Princess Stories dvd on the one portable DVD player with battery juice left. It ran out of juice at 7pm. Then, we went up to my and Roger's room and we all piled into our bed. I had called Georgia Power and the recorded outgoing message said they expected to fix the problem by 7pm. We attempted to get the kids to go to sleep but they fidgeted, kept talking and poking each other. At 8pm, the electricity came on. I put Cleo to bed in her own bed and Roger put Sidney to bed in his own bed. When I called the power going out a blackout, Cleo corrected me and called it a "darkout."
Sidney could not comprehend that all of the light switches in the entire house did not work. When we went into a new room he'd ask me to turn the light on. I explained that none of the lights worked. We had 4 flashlights: 2 small ones (which Cleo and Sidney used), one medium one (which I used), and one large one (which Roger used). We had 3 candles burning in the kitchen so it lit up downstairs fairly well. It's nice to have the lights on again.
I finally figure out how to upload pics on this Apple computer! Here's one from our visit to NYC in November.
